Connected with an Admin API key. - Claude.ai: Claude.ai product usage, including Claude Chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Office Agents, Claude in Chrome, and Claude Design. Connected with a Claude Enterprise Analytics API key.
anthropic:billing_source value (admin or analytics) so you can filter, group, and allocate costs by data source. See Anthropic Reporting Dimensions for details.
Limitations:
- This integration supports only usage and cost data exposed through Anthropic’s own APIs. It does not support Claude hosted on other clouds, such as Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud Vertex AI. Claude.ai consumer (Pro) and Team plans are not supported by the Claude Enterprise Analytics API; that data source requires a Claude Enterprise plan.
- Anthropic’s APIs do not currently surface tax information. As a result, tax is not included in the cost data reported by Vantage for Anthropic usage.
Anthropic Data Sources
The table below summarizes the two data sources, what each captures, and what you need to connect them. In Cost Reports, you can filter by theanthropic:billing_source tag to see which data source is associated with a given cost row.
The two data sources fill the shared dimensions differently. On Claude API rows, Account is the Anthropic workspace and Resource is the API key. On Claude.ai rows, Account is the account name you set at connect and Resource is the user. Product appears only on Claude.ai rows. Filter on the
anthropic:billing_source tag to keep a report focused on one data source.Anthropic Permissions
Vantage cannot perform cost-incurring actions and only ever reads cost and usage data from Anthropic.Claude API Permissions
Anthropic requires an Admin API key to access the Usage and Cost API, which includes extra permissions (see the full list here). Vantage only reads from this endpoint and never performs other actions. All Admin API keys have revocable read-write access, with no option for finer permission scoping. We recommend submitting a feature request to Anthropic, and Vantage will adopt fine-grained permissions if they become available.Claude Enterprise Analytics API Permissions
Anthropic requires a Claude Enterprise Analytics API key with theread:analytics scope to access the Claude Enterprise Analytics API. Only a Primary Owner on a Claude Enterprise account can enable Analytics API access and create this key. Vantage only reads cost and usage data from this endpoint.
Vantage stores only usage metadata (e.g., token consumption). No user content (prompts or responses) is ingested from either data source.
Connect Your Anthropic Account
You can connect the Claude API, Claude.ai, or both. Each data source has its own key and its own connection flow in Vantage.Prerequisites
- You must have a Vantage Organization Owner or Integration Owner role to add or remove this integration. See the Role-Based Access Control documentation for details.
- For the Claude API, you need to be an Organization Admin in the Claude Console to generate an Admin API key.
Admin keys are not available for individual accounts. You will need to set up your organization by navigating to Console > Settings > Organization first. See the Claude documentation for details.
- For Claude.ai, you must be on a Claude Enterprise plan and be a Primary Owner to enable Analytics API access and create a Claude Enterprise Analytics API key.
- Create a free Vantage account, then follow the steps below to integrate Anthropic costs.
Connect the Claude API
Use this data source to track programmatic Claude usage from the Claude API.1
Navigate and log in to the Claude Console.

On the bottom left of the console, click your username, then select Organization settings.

On the left navigation, click Admin keys.

Click Create admin key.
It’s best practice to use a dedicated key for Vantage and rotate it per your organization’s security policy.

Enter a name for your key and click Add.

Copy the newly created key. Admin keys start with
sk-ant-admin.7
From the top navigation in Vantage, click Settings.

On the left navigation, select Integrations > Anthropic.

The Anthropic integration page is displayed. Ensure you are on the Connect tab.

In the Claude API section, click Add Admin API Key and paste your newly generated Admin API key.

Connect Claude.ai
Use this data source to track Claude.ai product usage, including Claude Chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Office Agents, Claude in Chrome, and Claude Design. You must be the Primary Owner on your account to create a key.1
In Claude.ai, navigate to Analytics > API keys.

Under Analytics API, turn on the Access toggle to enable Analytics API access for your organization.

Click + Create key to generate a new Claude Enterprise Analytics API key. Ensure the key includes the
read:analytics scope.4
Copy the newly created key and store it securely. It will not be shown again.

From the top navigation in Vantage, click Settings.

On the left navigation, select Integrations > Anthropic.

Ensure you are on the Connect tab. In the Claude Enterprise (claude.ai) section, click Add Analytics API Key.

Paste your Claude Enterprise Analytics API key. Then enter your Organization ID (found in your Claude.ai account settings) and an Account Name to label this connection in Vantage.
The Analytics API does not expose an account name, so the Account Name you enter is used to identify this connection in the Vantage UI and as the Account dimension on Claude.ai cost rows.

Click Connect Account.
As soon as costs are processed, they will be available on your All Resources Cost Report. If you remove an Anthropic integration from Vantage, all costs associated with that Anthropic API key are removed from the Vantage console.

On Anthropic Cost Reports, you can filter and group across several dimensions. The values available for each dimension depend on the data source, as shown below.
In addition, Anthropic costs include the following provider tags, which are automatically created by Vantage and available for filtering and grouping alongside any Virtual Tags you create. Tags marked Claude.ai only are populated exclusively on Claude.ai rows.
View Anthropic Spend by User or Developer Email
To view Anthropic spend by user or developer email, connect the Claude Enterprise (claude.ai) data source with a Claude Enterprise Analytics API key. Claude.ai cost rows use the user’s email as the Resource ID and include theanthropic:user_email tag, so you can group a Cost Report by Resource or filter and group by the anthropic:user_email tag.
Direct Claude API usage is attributed to workspaces and API keys, not developer emails. If you want to separate Claude API spend by developer, create API keys per developer or maintain a mapping between API keys and owners.
Active Resources
Vantage syncs the following Anthropic active resources, available in resource reports. All are synced from the Claude API integration (Admin API key); connecting only Claude.ai does not sync any active resources.- API Keys: Claude API keys in your organization.
- Users: members of your organization.
- Models: Claude models available to your organization.
