Credits includes OpenRouter credit charges and BYOK platform fees. BYOK represents inference spend reported by OpenRouter for your own upstream provider keys; it is not an additional OpenRouter charge. If that usage is also imported through a direct provider integration, exclude the overlapping BYOK costs when combining reports.
OpenRouter Permissions
Vantage connects to OpenRouter using a Management API key and validates access by calling the Analytics metadata endpoint. An inference API key cannot access the Analytics endpoints used by this integration.
Connect Your OpenRouter Account
Prerequisites
- You must have a Vantage Organization Owner or Integration Owner role to add or remove this integration. See the Role-Based Access Control documentation for details.
- You need access to an OpenRouter account that can create Management Keys.
- Create a free Vantage account, then follow the steps below to integrate OpenRouter costs.
If your organization restricts access to the provider by IP address, add the following Vantage IP addresses to your provider’s allowlist:
Create the Connection
1
Sign in to the OpenRouter settings page and open Management Keys.
2
Create a new management key.
3
Click +New key.
4
Enter a name and select an expiration for the key. If the key expires, you will need to reconnect in Vantage with a new key.
5
From the top navigation in Vantage, click Settings.
6
On the left navigation, select Integrations > OpenRouter.
7
The OpenRouter integrations page is displayed. Ensure you are on the Connect tab.
8
Click Add Account and complete the integration form:
- Management API Key: Paste the OpenRouter Management API key.
- Description: Enter a label to identify this OpenRouter account or workspace in Vantage. This value is used as the Organization dimension in Cost Report filters.
9
Click Connect Account.
As soon as costs are processed, they will be available on your All Resources Cost Report. If you decide to remove your OpenRouter integration from Vantage, all costs associated with that OpenRouter account will be removed from the Vantage console. Removal does not revoke the Management API key in OpenRouter.
Next Steps - Manage Workspace Access
Once the import is complete and the integration status changes to Stable, you can select which workspaces this integration is associated with. See the Workspaces documentation for information.Data Refresh
See the provider data refresh documentation for information on when data for each provider refreshes in Vantage. OpenRouter data refreshes once daily. Data is grouped by UTC day, and availability depends on OpenRouter Analytics.OpenRouter Reporting Dimensions
On OpenRouter Cost Reports, you can filter and group across several dimensions:- Organization (the description you enter when connecting the integration)
- Service (i.e., the OpenRouter model, such as
GPT 4o MiniorClaude Opus 5.5) - Category (
CreditsorBYOK) - Subcategory (i.e., the token type when token-type detail is available:
Input Tokens,Cached Input Tokens, orOutput Tokens) - Resource (i.e., the API-key ID)
- Charge Type (Usage)
When token-type detail is available, dollar amounts by subcategory are allocated estimates. Vantage distributes each category’s reported cost using token counts and model-catalog prices captured during import, falling back to token proportions when pricing is unavailable. The allocations sum to the category total, but are not separately billed input, output, or cache charges from OpenRouter. Reasoning tokens remain within output usage.
vntg:ai: schema shared across all AI providers, so you can analyze AI spend with consistent dimensions. For OpenRouter, the following keys are emitted: vntg:ai:model, vntg:ai:raw_model, vntg:ai:model_provider, vntg:ai:api_key_id, and vntg:ai:token_type when token-type detail is available. The vntg:ai:model_provider tag identifies the model vendor, rather than the host that served an individual request. See Managed AI Tags for the full schema.
