- Model capabilities: Capabilities such as Text-to-Speech, Pro Voice Cloning, and Localization are metered in credits, which are an entitlement unit rather than US dollars. By default, Vantage reports the credit usage without a dollar amount. To calculate a cost from credit usage, enter a negotiated Price per 1,000 credits when connecting (see below).
- Line agents: Metered in US dollars and minutes, so Vantage reports their cost directly.
The Cartesia usage APIs cover credit consumption and Line agent usage only. They do not include monthly subscription fees, prepaid balances, or other recurring invoice line items. This integration covers usage billed through Cartesia and reported by Cartesia’s usage APIs for the connected Admin API key.
Cartesia Permissions
Vantage connects to Cartesia using an Admin API key and validates access by reading credit usage data. Vantage cannot generate speech or transcription, deploy voices, or perform any actions that incur costs in your Cartesia account. Vantage stores only billing metadata (credit counts, Line agent costs, minutes, and call counts). No audio, transcript, or prompt content is ingested or stored. You must use an Admin API key (which begins withsk_car_admin_), created by a Cartesia organization admin. Standard generation API keys cannot access the usage endpoints and will not work. It’s best practice to create a dedicated Admin API key for Vantage and rotate it according to your organization’s security policy.
Connect Your Cartesia Account
Prerequisites
- You must have a Vantage Organization Owner or Integration Owner role to add or remove this integration. See the Role-Based Access Control documentation for details.
- You must be a Cartesia organization admin to create an Admin API key.
- Create a free Vantage account, then follow the steps below to integrate Cartesia costs.
If your organization restricts access to the provider by IP address, add the following Vantage IP addresses to your provider’s allowlist:
Create the Connection
1
Go to the Cartesia dashboard and sign in as an organization admin.
2
In the left navigation, under Manage, select API Keys.
3
On the API Keys page, select the Admin tab.
4
Click + Create admin API key. Enter a name for the key, then immediately copy it.
5
From the top navigation in Vantage, click Settings.
6
On the left navigation, select Integrations > Cartesia.
7
The Cartesia integration page is displayed. Ensure you are on the Connect tab.
8
Click Add Account and complete the integration form:
- Admin API Key: Paste the Cartesia Admin API key.
- Description: Enter a label to identify this Cartesia account or workspace in Vantage. This value is used as the Account dimension in Cost Report filters.
- Credit rate: Choose how Vantage should report costs for credit-based model usage:
- Leave unrated (the default): Vantage reports credit usage without a dollar amount, since Cartesia credits are not US dollars.
- Use my own negotiated rate: Enter your Price per 1,000 credits (USD) so Vantage can calculate a cost from credit usage. You can add multiple rates with optional start and end dates if your pricing has changed over time. Line agent costs are always reported in US dollars regardless of this setting.
9
Click Connect Account.
As soon as costs are processed, they will be available on your All Resources Cost Report. If you decide to remove your Cartesia integration from Vantage, all costs associated with that Admin API key will be removed from the Vantage console.
Update Integration Settings
After connecting, you can update an existing Cartesia integration in place from the Cartesia integration settings page, without removing and re-adding it:- Credit rate: Add or update your Price per 1,000 credits (USD), or switch between unrated and a negotiated rate. Vantage recalculates the affected credit-based costs from your existing usage data, so you do not need to reconnect. You can enter multiple rates with optional start and end dates if your pricing has changed over time.
- Admin API Key: Rotate the Cartesia Admin API key (for example, when your existing key expires) while keeping the integration and its historical cost data intact.
Next Steps - Manage Workspace Access
Once the import is complete and the integration status changes to Stable, you can select which workspaces this integration is associated with. See the Workspaces documentation for information.Data Refresh
See the provider data refresh documentation for information on when data for each provider refreshes in Vantage.Cartesia Reporting Dimensions
On Cartesia Cost Reports, you can filter and group across several dimensions:- Account (the description you enter when connecting the integration; also available as Billing Account for filtering and grouping)
- Service (i.e., the capability name Cartesia reports for credit usage, such as Text-to-Speech, Pro Voice Cloning, or Localization; or
Line agentsfor Line agent usage) - Category (i.e.,
Creditsfor model capability usage orAgentsfor Line agent usage) - Charge Type (Usage)
Cartesia costs do not include provider tags or Managed AI Tags at this time. Credit-based model usage is grouped by capability, so individual models, voices, and API keys are not broken out as separate dimensions.
